Officials who attended the meeting of Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy at his camp office in Tadepalli were surprised to see a different backdrop behind his chair.
Instead of gold-coloured lotus wheel that was adorning the wall behind the CM’s chair was missing, and in its place, a plain white board with official emblem of Andhra Pradesh was seen. Though not many officials were aware of it, those working in the CM’s office were aware of the reason for the change.
In fact, the talk of change of background in the CM’s conference hall has been going on for the last two days, say sources. Apparently, some close confidants of Jagan told him that the gold coloured lotus shaped wheel was a bad Vasthu.
They reportedly told him that bad Vasthu was one of the many reasons for the setbacks he has been receiving for implementation of many of his decisions – whether it was the capital shift, or abolition of legislative council or conduct of local bodies, financial constraints etc.
Secondly, Jagan was also not happy with the gaudy look of the golden lotus behind his seat. Since he always prefers simplicity, he readily agreed to the suggestions of Vasthu experts and asked for a change in the background.
He also wanted the same lotus be removed from the background of his conference hall in the state secretariat.
In fact, this golden lotus wheel was the idea of former chief minister and Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu, who had some sort of affinity towards Buddhist philosophy (which was the reason why he had chosen Buddhist destination of Amaravati as the capital).
“The golden lotus chakra behind the CM’s seat was a representation of the aerial view of Purna Kubham of Amaravati. Naidu thought it would fetch him a fortune. But unfortunately, it proved a misfortune for Naidu, who not only could not complete any of his projects but also lost power miserably,” a political observer said.
Though originally, it was confined only to the Secretariat, the CMO officials replicated the same image in Jagan’s conference hall at his camp office at Tadepalli to give it an official look. But now that he has realised it to be a bad Vasthu, he got it replaced.
