Prabhas and Rana Daggubati‘s Baahubali 2: The Conclusion has set the box office on fire as it hit the screens today. The film has started off with an insane occupancy of 95 per cent across India during the morning shows, making it the movie with the highest ever opening occupancy of 2016 and 2017. It has defeated the likes of Salman Khan‘s Sultan, Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees and Aamir Khan’s Dangal. However, looks like it is going to break a few more records at the box office, especially on day 1.
Trade expert, Akshaye Rathi (exhibitor and distributor) had mentioned to us earlier that the movie would make anywhere between Rs 65-70 crore at the box office. As he predicted earlier this week, “Baahubali 2 will definitely have the highest day 1 ever! Taking into account all the languages, it will be somewhere between Rs 65 – 70 crore. Retail advance bookings are going as we know but the corporate bookings are going crazy. One person is taking 100 to 200 tickets for employees, customers and others.”
But with such a humongous opening occupancy on day one and nearly 8000 screens at its disposal, we are sure Baahubali 2 will extend its wings and collect even more than Rs 70 crore. But will it rake in Rs 100 crore on day one at the box office? Well, it surely can! With the movie being housefull in almost all the screens across India and such mass hysteria amongst the audience to know why Katappa killed Baahubali, we can assure that the film will collect the maximum amount it potentially can, which might very well be Rs 100 crore. All the bets have been placed and now it’s time to wait and watch!
Talking about the fantastic opening Baahubali 2 has got, Akshaye revealed to us, “The movie has started off to rocking collections. It is insane! Everywhere, across India, almost all the shows are Housefull. Virtually across India, the occupancy is 100 per cent barring a few places. So you can say it is around 90-95 per cent, which is insane during the morning and afternoon shows.”
