Bangladesh cricket team escapes NZ shooting horror

The entire Bangladesh cricket team has narrowly escaped from the horror shooting at a mosque in Christchurch, New Zealand. The team was inside a bus and players were about to enter the Al Noor mosque near Hagley Oval for Friday prayers. Upon hearing the firing sounds, the players were frightened and mentally shocked.

Reporting about the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed that all the players are safe in a private hotel and both the cricket boards have called off the third Test match scheduled from March 16. “All members of the Bangladesh Cricket Team in Christchurch, are safely back in the hotel following the incident of shooting in the city. The Bangladesh Cricket Board is in constant contact with the players and team management,” tweeted BCB.

Poplar player Tamim Iqbal tweeted, “Entire team got saved from active shooters!!! Frightening experience and please keep us in your prayers.” Couple of players also shared video of themselves walking along the street post the incident.

About 40 people are heard to have lost their lives in this tragic episode. The police in their initial investigation gathered information about the shooters. One among them is identified as a Australian citizen.
