BJP moves privilege notice against KCR

Alleging that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has misled the Legislative Assembly, BJP served a privileges notice against the Chief Minister. BJLP leader G Kishan Reddy handed over a notice to the Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary.

In the letter today, Kishan Reddy mentioned that the Chief Minister, on March 17misled the House stating that the State government was alone going to spend its own funds to the scheme of distribution of sheep to Yadava and Kuruma people and the Centre was not giving any sort of subsidy to the State in this regard. But the government published in budget demands that the Centre was giving Rs 1000 crore grant to the Animal Husbandry department, he said and made it clear that the Chief Minister’s statement attracts privileges notice as the latter misled the House and asked the Speaker to initiate action against the Chief Minister.

It may be recalled that BJLP leader G Kishan Reddy while participating in the debate on budget on March 15, had stated that the State was getting Central loan and subsidy for the scheme of distribution of sheep to the Yadavas and Kurumas from NCDP. But, on March 17, the Chief Minister asserted that the State government was not taking a single paisa for sheep distribution scheme. But the Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Dairy Industry Department, in its outcome of budget demand page-13 (Telugu Copy), Page-15 (English copy), mentioned that the NCDC was giving Rs 3,000 crore loan and grant of Rs 1000 crore.

The Chief Minister’s statement in the House was contrary to the budget report and none other than the Chief Minister’s assertion amounts to violation of House rules and hence the Speaker has to initiate action against the Chief Minister, he asked in the privilege notice.
