Even as KCR is courting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and has invited him to attend the inauguration of the newly furbished Yadadri temple, the BJP in Telangana is in no mood to relent. It is not ready to call off its fight against the TRS government. The yatra by Bandi Sanjay is drawing huge crowds and the response has been quite encouraging for the BJP.
Now the latest weapon the BJP is trying to employ against the TRS government is September 17, the Hyderabad liberation day. The TRS government is not ready to celebrate September 17 so as not to displease its friend, the MIM. The BJP wants to use this occasion. This September 17, Union Home Minister Amit Shah would be the chief guest for the Hyderabad Liberation Day festivities. The BJP is planning to organise a massive meeting with over one lakh people in Nirmal.
If sources are to be believed, the BJP state leaders are already in talks with the national leadership over the September 17 celebrations. The party leaders in Telangana feel that Amit Shah’s presence will boost the party’s prospects in the state. On September 17, Bandi Sanjay’s yatra would reach Kamareddy. The BJP wants Amit Shah to address a rally in Kamareddy and then move to Nirmal in the undivided Adilabad to address another major rally.
The BJP says that Nirmal has a memorial where over 1000 freedom fighters were hanged by the Nizams and the British for their participation in 1857. A massive programme in Nirmal would be a fitting tribute to the freedom fighters and would be a major booster for the party in North Telangana. The BJP has an MP, several councillors and corporators in the undivided Adilabad.
