The audience is facing a major disappointment this summer as there is a lack of big films hitting the screens. Even the movies that managed to release haven’t been able to captivate and satisfy the audience completely. It’s been a rather lackluster season so far. However, amidst this, there have been a couple of films that stood out and garnered positive buzz, Dasara movie and Virupaksha movie.
These films managed to entertain and engage the audience, providing some respite. Unfortunately, the rest of the movies seemed to be in disarray and failed to make a mark.
Last week, the movie Agent turned out to be a washout, receiving poor response right from its opening weekend.
And this week, two mid-range films took the spotlight at the box office. Gopichand’s Rambanam, despite having low expectations due to its disappointing trailer, fell even further short of delivering minimum entertainment on the big screen. Rambanam may have received mixed talk, but its box office openings were far from promising. On the other hand, the recently released film Ugram garnered better reception.
Although it may not match the initial hype surrounding the first collaboration between hero Allari Naresh and director Vijay Kanakamedala, the film still manages to offer substantial content. Certain episodes and flashes in the movie leave an impressive impact, and Allari Naresh’s performance is also commendable.
In times of scarcity, the average cinema-goer seeks satisfaction, and while Virupaksha continues to have an impact even after two weeks, the audience remains eager for new movies. They gravitate towards films that have received positive word-of-mouth. In this regard, Ugram holds an advantageous position at the box office, and with this positive momentum, it seems likely to secure another hit in Naresh’s career.
