Two straight Telugu films Thimmarasu and Ishq released yesterday and sadly both of them failed to garner a unanimously positive response from Telugu audiences.
Consequently, Satya Dev’s Thimmarasu and Teja’s Ishq are underperforming big time. Either of the films have posted respectable numbers on the opening day. Not even a handful of theaters screening these films posted house fulls yesterday.
The problem is not entirely with the content of these two films. The ongoing Covid situation is playing a decisive role in the footfalls at cinema halls across the twin Telugu states.
After the devastating second wave, people are not quite ready to take the big risk of potentially contracting Covid by watching films in theaters. Family audiences have opted to completely avoid cinema halls for the time being.
We can gauge the average footfalls at cinema halls only if big-ticket films like Tuck Jagadish and Love Story which are ready for release hit the silver screens.
