“Bujji & Bhairava”: An Animated Gateway to the World of “Kalki 2898 AD”

The highly anticipated 2D animated series “Bujji & Bhairava” is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on May 31st. This series serves as a prequel to the upcoming live-action film “Kalki 2898 AD,” offering audiences a glimpse into the film’s universe.

“Bujji & Bhairava” delves into the backstory of the hero, Bhairava. The trailer hints at his dream of becoming a top bounty hunter and his quest to acquire a motorbike. To achieve this goal, Bhairava forms an unlikely bond with Bujji, a robot companion. Working together in a futuristic world, they ingeniously build a formidable 6-ton car from recycled auto parts, setting the stage for their thrilling adventures.

Vyjayanthi Movies partnered with Green Gold Animation, a renowned animation studio known for creating popular series like “Chhota Bheem,” to bring “Bujji & Bhairava” to life. The first episode received a positive response at a special screening event held for media and families.

Expressing his delight at the audience’s reaction, director Nag Ashwin stated, “I’ve seen cheers for the introductory scenes of Bhairava and Bujji. But I’ve seen more cheers when they unite on a mission. In a few hours, the whole world will be able to see whatever the little glimpse, an entry into the world of Kalki, that we have been working for the past 4 to 5 years.”

Ashwin further acknowledged the innovative nature of the project. “First of all, it’s a bold and daring thing for our production house to do this experiment, to release an animated series even before the movie,” he said. He commended the animation industry, highlighting the challenges involved, “Launching an animation series of a movie is something new. When we got this idea 2 years back, we didn’t know how hard this would be. It may look easy. But, animation is a whole different ball game. Full respect for all the animators across the globe.”

Collaboration with Green Gold Animation

Ashwin expressed his gratitude to Green Gold Animation for their expertise and collaboration. “We worked with Green Gold which made Chota Bheem and a lot of other animation series. Chota Bheem is like a pride of India. It’s from Hyderabad. They agreed to take this on. We asked them for last-minute changes, but they were always cooperative. I just want to thank the whole team.” He elaborated on the extended efforts behind the project, revealing, “For the first time, we are getting to share something with you from our world. Parallelly, we made a car. We ran three different companies- Vyjayanthi Automobiles, Vyjayanthi Animation, and Vyjayanthi Movies.”

With the animated series releasing on May 31st and the live-action film “Kalki 2898 AD” scheduled for release on June 27th, Nag Ashwin’s vision for a sprawling futuristic universe is coming to fruition.
