The committee constituted for deciding the capital city of Andhra Pradesh, has met CM YS Jagan and submitted its report. The GN Rao committee has studied about the feasibility of capital, state’s all-round development and also took people’s opinion into consideration.
For a brief moment, the committee members had a discussion with AP CM Jagan and they left. They did not speak to the media as may be they were asked not to. After this Jagan has called for the cabinet meet and will host it on December 27th. On this day, Jagan will place the GN Rao committee report before the cabinet and ask for their opinions. It’s formality that the report might be approved by the cabinet as only CM Jagan will take final call.
Only after the cabinet’s approval, the report will be out for public. So the people of AP need to wait another week to know whether Amaravati will remain as capital of Andhra Pradesh or will have three capitals as proposed by Jagan in the assembly.
There is a huge tension among the people. A majority of people are backing the three capitals idea but farmers of Amaravati are not okay with this.
