Cases against those who celebrated Pakistan’s victory

The Uttar Pradesh Government has become serious about those who celebrated Pakistan’s victory over India in the T20 Cricket World Cup match that took place on October 24.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered the UP police to register a case of Sedition against those who set off fireworks after Pakistan won the match.

Taking to his official Twitter handle, Adityanath said that sedition law would be invoked against those celebrating the victory of Pakistan. Cases were registered in Agra, Bareilly, Budaun and Sitapur.

Uttar Pradesh Police has booked seven people in five districts and taken five people into custody. The Yogi government is preparing to register cases against more people who have celebrated in support of Pakistan.

In addition, three Kashmiri students have already been suspended from college for celebrating Pakistan’s victory. The trio also chanted pro-Pakistan slogans. College administrators suspended them from college soon after pictures of the celebration went viral on social media.
