Centre Announces SCO Railway Zone To AP

After delaying for 4 years 9 months, the Centre has finally announced a Special Railway Zone to Visakhapatnam. Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has made a formal announcement today. The Special Railway Zone has been named as the South Coastal Railway Zone (SCOR). SCOR zone will be formed with Vijayawada, Guntur and Guntakal divisions. Goyal stated that the ministry would soon complete the formalities pertaining to the formation of the SCOR.

Chalasani Srinivas of Andhra Medhavula Vedika, has welcomed the decision and claimed that this is the result of the fight of AP people. He added that AP people would continue their fight for justice and their rightful demand of the Special Category Status. He said several other promises of the Centre are still due including Steel Plant for Kadapa, others.

Meanwhile, more details are yet to come from the Centre on the SCOR zone to Vizag. Ruling TDP also stated that the Centre’s announcement comes only after a lot of fight, demand from the people of AP.
