The last time that NTR was active in politics was in 2009 when he campaigned for the TDP ahead of the 2009 general elections. During his campaign, the actor met with a serious accident and has ever since maintained his distance from the party. NTR’s uncle Nandamuri Balakrishna’s response when asked about NTR’s return to politics, earlier this year, was also not very promising, making everyone think that NTR may not be seen in active politics for quite some time.
However, things seem to be changing quite rapidly now, with TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu said to have called up NTR personally, and asked him to take part in active politics, as the party is currently in a bad position. Members of the TDP have especially lost all of their hopes after their terrible loss in the local elections, and every one belonging to the party is said to be of the opinion that the party would get better only with the participation of NTR. This opinion seems to be so popular in the party, that it eventually led to Naidu calling NTR himself.
While Naidu has tried his best to drive the party himself, and put his son Nara Lokesh in the front, trying to get him to lead the party, but the party members haven’t been very welcoming or trusting of Lokesh’s leadership. On the other hand, in Naidu’s call with NTR, NTR is said to have made some key suggestions about the party and put forth some conditions for his political entry. All in all, it now looks more likely than ever for NTR to return to politics, a long-awaited dream of many of NTR’s fans. It should now be seen when this will actively happen.
