Famous Vaishnava seer Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar Swamy has been in the news for the past few days with his alleged comments which have hurt the sentiments of the tribal community over their beliefs towards the goddess. Unhappy with his comments, they have even complained to the Police.
Not just the tribals, the likes of MLA Seethakka, Producer Ashwini Dutt, CPI Narayana, and several others have come together to slam the seer over his objectionable comments against Sammakka Saralamma, famous tribal deities.
Chinna Jeeyar Swami who remained silent all these days has finally opened up on the controversy. Speaking to the media in the temple city Vijayawada, the seer said that the controversy was made out of nothing by a few people who have vested interests.
The seer said that he has no intention of hurting the sentiments of Tribals and they strongly believe that Tribals and women should be given more importance in all the aspects and they follow and preach the same.
We come from the Pedda Jeeyar Swamy’s school of thought which says that irrespective of caste, everyone should take part in a devotional journey and we are implementing the same.
We have no intention to look down upon anyone. To create a controversy, my old video was made viral. We have schools that run for Tribals. It’s the right perception that we see a few deities in the wrong light, he said.
