Megastar Chiranjeevi attended the pre-release event of Love Story which was held the other day. Apart from publicizing Love Story, Chiranjeevi also addressed the burning topic which has been troubling Tollywood, as a whole for a while now. Chiranjeevi spoke at length about the incentives that are to be provided by the governments of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in order to rejuvenate the Tollywood industry which has taken a serious beating due to the Covid pandemic. Chiranjeevi was honest and sincere with his approach and his speech is now going viral on social media.
“Tollywood heroes and actors are the first to react when there is a calamity or a natural disaster. We never back down when it comes to donating for public welfare and relief measures when needed the most. However, we ourselves are in need of support from the governments now. Tollywood is in great need of support from the governments of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana now. If the governments don’t review the requests of Tollywood and act accordingly, the industry is at the risk of sinking deep in trouble,” Chiranjeevi said.
Chiranjeevi went on to say that the success rate in Tollywood is just around 20% which is substantially low. “The success of a few films might give an implication that Tollywood is a prosperous industry. But that isn’t the case. We have seen what happened with cine workers after the shooting were halted for just a month. This shows that the industry is prone to a lot of financial recession. We then came together to help those in need and each of us gave crores of rupees to help cine workers. Now, we ourselves need the incentive from the government,” he said.
“People come to watch our films by paying the ticket price not even knowing what we have in store for them. Such is the trust they have in us. So, the onus is on us to deliver the best possible output to our audience. And to achieve the same, we spend a lot of money on our projects. As a lot is at stake, it is not right to restrict the cinema hall ticket prices,” Chiranjeevi said.
