Chiru-Vijayashanthi’s Fun Banter Steals The Show

“Today is Sunday. My heroine Vijayashanthi had promised me singing ‘Sunday ananu ra Monday ananu ra…Yennadu ni dannera’, but left me and stepped into politics and again reappeared after 15 long years,” Chiru said, as Vijayashanthi walked up to him and gave him a warm, friendly hug on the stage at Sarileru’s MegaSuper event last night. What followed was a 5 minute non-stop fun and emotional moments that stole the show.

“We acted together in nearly 19, 20 movies. We were more than just friends and almost like a family. But Vijayashanthi, I am angry with you about one thing. You entered politics before me. How could you scold me that way (in politics)?,” Chiru asked Vijayashanthi. To this, the Lady Superstar funnily replied with Chiru’s famous punch dialogue from their yesteryear cult film, Gang Leader, “Cheyi chusava entha rough ga undo…Rough aadinchestha jagratha.”

“Politics and movies are different. You are my hero and I’m your heroine. We acted in 20 movies. Should we act together again?,” Vijayashanthi asked Chiru and the Megastar replied, saying, “Why not?” “People might have thought that after stepping into politics, you lost your glamour, your arrogance, your figure and your beauty. But after seeing you in Sarileru Neekevvaru’s promos, I feel that you are just intact. You haven’t changed at all. My heart skipped its beat seeing you on screen after so many years, Chiru said almost flirtatiously, leaving Vijayashanthi blushing.

“I want to just say one thing here. Politics gets you enemies, whereas film industry gets you friends. Even though you had commented against me, I never commented against you,” Chiru told Vijayashanthi. And Vijayashanthi replied, “Politics and movies are different. Whatever I said and did (in politics) was my duty and nothing personal about it.” Chiru finally thanked Mahesh Babu for bringing him and Vijayashanthi on the same stage after such a long time.
