The much-awaited Amazon Prime Original web series ‘Citadel’ is finally out now. It had multiple premieres across the globe and the first two episodes were made available on 28th April. A new episode will be arriving every Friday and this high-budget spy thriller series which was made on a grand budget of $300 million has reportedly fallen below expectations.
Featuring ‘Game Of Thrones’ fame Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas in the lead, there were a lot of expectations on this series since the Russo brothers were handling it. But the first two episodes made it clear that it had nothing extraordinary. Barring the rich locations and high-octane stunts, the required story and drama which was needed to drive the plot forward left a lot to be desired. Also, many are claiming that it is a high-budget spy thriller that reminded the Indian audience of SRK’s recent blockbuster ‘Pathaan’.
As we know, ‘Pathaan’ had a regular plot, cheesy dialogues, a predictable screenplay and many more. But everything was overpowered by the superstardom of SRK. The initial episodes of ‘Citadel’ had all the above-mentioned shortcomings but it did not Shah Rukh to overshadow them. Despite the strong presence and performance of Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden, predictability becomes a major hindrance for this series. Sadly, ‘Citadel’ does not offer anything new and we need to see if the upcoming episodes change the perception of the viewers towards this series or not.
