West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is all set to contest in the by-polls from the Bhabanipur assembly seat. It is known that she lost in the recently held general elections and she has to win in the by-polls within six months of being appointed as the CM to continue in the post.
On Friday, Mamata filed her nomination for Bhabanipur assembly seat by-polls. She will be pitted against BJP’s Priyanka Tibrewal and Left Front’s Srijib Biswas.
The by-election in Bhabanipur Assembly Constituency in West Bengal will be held on 30 September. The counting of votes will be on 3 October, as per the schedule announced by the Election Commission of India (ECI).
West Bengal Agriculture Minister Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay has vacated the Bhabanipur assembly seat in May, making way for Mamata Banerjee to contest from the Bhabanipur seat. Notably, Mamata is a resident of Bhabanipur and had won the seat twice in 2011 and 2016.
