Will Congress ever learn from its mistakes? Unlikely. At least going by what’s happening in Telangana, one can safely say that the Congress will not learn any lesson. The Congress Party has now embarked on holding a massive public meeting in Warangal with Rahul Gandhi as the chief guest. But, senior leaders are still bickering and are working at cross purposes.
In Khammam, the party is divided into two warring camps, one led by Renuka Chowdary and the other by Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka. The rival groups clashed bitterly right in front of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee chief Revanth Reddy the other day. Revanth had to come back without solving the dispute.
In Nalgonda, MP and senior leader Komatireddy Venkat Reddy is blocking Revanth Reddy from visiting the district. He has told Revanth Reddy not to visit the district and that he would take care of the mobilisation for the Rahul Gandhi meeting. Revanth had to put up with this snub and remain silent.
Meanwhile, Revanth Reddy appointed former minister and TPCC working president Geetha Reddy as the incharge for mobilistion for Rahul’s meet. Komatireddy told her plain and frank that her visit was not needed. He told her to lay off Nalgonda district. In another development, Revanth Reddy held a secret meeting with the leaders from Nalgonda who are opposed to Komatireddy. This meeting has sent the Komatireddy faction into a tizzy.
Finally, senior leader Jana Reddy had to step in and mediate between the two factions. Leaders from Nalgonda such as Addanki Dayakar, Palle Ravi Kumar, Narsimha Reddy and Punna Kailash are opposing the domination of Komatireddy brothers. With Rahul Gandhi scheduled to visit Warangal on May 5, instead of working for a common purpose, the Congress leaders are working at cross purposes in Telangana.
