Congress veteran leader and former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi passed away today in Guwahati. Tarun Gogoi passed away with organ failure, media reports claimed.The former Chief Minister was diagnosed with the Coronavirus on the 25th of August. Though he was recovered from the pandemic, he developed symptoms of Covid-19 complications.
After undergoing treatment for the complications related to the Coronavirus pandemic, the former Chief Minister was discharged from GMCH on the 25th of October.The doctors put Tarun Gogoi on non-invasive ventilation on November 2, this year. Since then he was on ventilation support, with his health condition deteriorating, he was under invasive ventilation since Saturday night.
The 84-year-old leader was a 6-time Lok Sabha MP. Tarun Gogoi became the Chief Minister in 2001. Till 2016, Congress lost to BJP in elections, he served as CM which makes him the longest-serving Chief Minister.
