After affecting several fields and sectors, the ongoing second wave of novel Coronavirus has hit the current season of the Indian Premier League(IPL). The list of people leaving the tournament is going up with each day passing. From players to empires, several people are leaving the ongoing IPL season, one after the other for various reasons. Australian players Kane Richardson and Adam Zampa have already left Australia and a few umpires have also opted out of IPL.
A few other Australian players are also expected to leave the tournament as the Australian government has issued new rules restricting the flight services from India. Currently, only 30 percent of flights are only permitted and more restrictions are likely to come.It has to be noted that other countries like the United Kingdom, UAE, Singapore, Canada, and New Zealand are also restricting travel from India. More and more players are expected to leave the tournament, going by the Covid-19 scare.
If the same happens, the IPL tournament is likely to be canceled mid-way. The final match of IPL will be played on May 30. The tournament will be played for nearly one month. These developments are raising doubt on the conduction of the remaining edition of the current edition. A section of former cricketers and crickets are asking what’s the reason behind going for the IPL when the country is battling the Covid-19 outbreak.
Corona situations are turning worse from bad, as a result of the massive surge in infections. India has been reporting more than three lakh cases for ten days.
