Telangana Chief Minister KCR introduced the Dalit Bandhu scheme in an attempt to get the votes for the TRS in the upcoming Huzurabad by-polls. He even implemented the scheme, but the beneficiaries haven’t been able to withdraw the money from their bank accounts. Now, with just 11 days left for the by-polls, the Election Commission of India decided to halt the Dalit Bandhu scheme, giving rise to a lot of debates.
The TRS has been quick to throw the blame on the BJP, saying that it is the BJP that conspired against the TRS, and made sure that the scheme’s implementation is halted, so that Etela Rajendar, BJP’s candidate for the Huzurabad constituency can win in the elections. On the other hand, the BJP is saying that the TRS has pushed the EC to take this decision, as it realised the heavy cost of implementing the scheme would have on the government, during the by-polls.
The Huzurabad by-polls, as it is, are being looked at as a war between Etela and KCR, and analysts say that irrespective of the kind of promises and schemes that politicians are making, the voters have come to a decision of whom to cast their vote for, which they will do without a doubt.
