Despite Warnings, CPI Ramakrishna Again Comes Out In Support Of TDP

It appears that despite the party’s decision making body’s reprimanding, CPI state secretary Ramakrishna is refusing to ‘mend’ his ways. The CPI by and large believes that party’s state secretary Ramakrishna is more pro-TDP than is necessary. The issue came up in the party’s key meeting recently and most party leaders have advised him to tone down his anti-YS Jagan attitude.

The party felt that by openly backing the TDP and Chandrababu Naidu, Ramakrishna is bartering the party’s interests. They asked him to tone down his criticism of YS Jagan, who is by and large being seen as pro-poor. The party leadership pointed out that Chandrababu has always been seen as pro-corporate and pro-rich. The latest incident where CPI Ramakrishna showed his pro-TDP leanings is regarding the arrest of Denduluru MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar.

Ramakrishna not only decried Chintamaneni’s arrest, but backed him to the hilt. The CPI leaders feel that backing a thoroughly discredited leader like Chintamaneni, who is involved in assaulting a woman tahsildar and the SCs, will show the CPM in poor light. The party leaders feel that there is no reason why Ramakrishna should openly support Chintamaneni.

CPI Ramakrishna is largely seen as a pro-Chandrababu man and is usually seen to jump to Chandrababu’s rescue. The party told him to clean up his image of being pro-TDP. Despite all that Ramakrishna is back to his old ways, feel CPI cadres. Ramakrishna’s obsession with Chandrababu will ruin the party, they feel.
