If it wasn’t for Covid-19 pandemic, Nani’s ‘V’ would have been out in theaters in the month of March. But owing to the lockdown, the film was postponed indefenitely and Dil Raju who ran out of patience contemplated a direct OTT release. Consequently, ‘V’ had its world premiere on Amazon Prime.
Going into the story, it is learnt that Dil Raju had anticipated V’s result much ahead of its release. He was well aware of the fact that Indraganti Mohankrishna’s story had nothing new to offer. However, he believed in the acclaimed filmmaker’s narration, which sadly went miserably wrong in case of V.
Apparently, Dil Raju came to a conclusion that V was a poorly executed action thriller and as a result, contemplated OTT release option. The fact that theaters are shut down due to lockdown regulations helped his cause.
So, Dil Raju took the safe option of striking a deal with Amazon Prime and got paid upfront. He entered profits zone as Amazon had paid a fancy price for the digital rights of the Nani starrer.
V opened to a lukewarm response as the viewers say the film does not have thrilling elements and lacks emotional connect.
