Though Dil Raju is Tollywood’s number one producer, he is not getting any big hits as a distributor. His judgment of assessing a film’s potential is not working as a distributor. As a producer, he has seen 90 per cent success in recent times.
“Tholi Prema” seemed to prove his judgment right, but now it is clear that he will not be making any profits. Except in few pockets, the film’s collections are not strong in its second week.Some trade analysts say, he may lose 15% on its investment. But others feel that he may not lose anything, though he may not gain anything from it.
However, it is clear that Dil Raju has again failed to make profits as a distributor. “Agnyaathavaasi”, “Spyder” and many other recent films he bought for distribution ended up being box-office duds.He bought entire theatrical rights of “Tholi Prema” for Telugu states for Rs 18 Cr. The film collected Rs 15 Cr so far in AP and TS.
