Don’t Touch Amaravati – BJP’s Stand

With the debate over possible shift of capital from Amaravati in the wake of floods, BJP state unit president Kanna Lakshminarayana has joined the chorus of the opposition. When the farmers from the capital city have come forward to met Kanna, he assured them that BJP would standby them. Kanna has reminded that YS Jagan had agreed and given his consent for Amaravati as capital when it was announced.

Finding fault with YCP government for pushing people into confusion, Kanna said YCP is only catering to some section of people leaving rest. Kanna said YCP had come to power on the promise of catering to all sections of people whereas he alleged that it is biased towards the party sympathizers.

Kanna said the farmers of the capital region have done huge sacrifices for the capital and cautioned CM Jagan to not take their sacrifices for granted. He also pointed out that already a lot of crores of money have been spent by both state and central governments on Amaravati and shifting or changing the capital would incur huge loss to public exchequer. Expressing his support to the farmers in Amaravati, Kanna said that Amaravati should continue as the state capital.

Farmers have appealed to Kanna to make sure the government won’t step back on Amaravati. The farmers said they are facing the problems after the new government came into power. With BJP too opposing the change of capital, YCP is now in contemplation mode.
