The Dubbaka by-elections have become the talk of the town, ever since the unfortunate passing of Dubbaka MLA S. Ramalinga Reddy. Every party is trying their very best to claim this seat, and increase their power in the state of Telangana.
The TRS has given the ticket to Solipeta Sujatha, the wife of Ramalinga Reddy, and is confident about its win. The Congress Party has given the ticket to Srinivas Reddy, son of former state minister Cheruku Muthyam Reddy. The BJP has given the ticket to Raghunandan Rao, who had lost in the 2018 elections, in third place.
Interestingly, the TRS had refused to give the ticket to Srinivas Reddy, following which he joined the Congress just a few days ago. While this is the third time Raghunandan Rao is contesting in the elections, it is the first time for both Sujatha Reddy and Srinivas Reddy.
In 2018, Ramalinga Reddy won the elections, with a margin of 62,000 votes, while he won the election against Mutyam Reddy in 2014, with a margin of 38,000 votes. With the figures mentioned above, it is clear that the TRS had gained much greater following by 2018, which is very likely to continue now as well. However, the Congress and the BJP are confident that they will be able to win the elections this time.
While State Finance Minister Hairsh Rao is extensively campaigning in Dubbaka, to make sure that the TRS wins once again, the Congress and BJP too are trying their best to attract the public during their campaigns. The BJP is even projecting itself as a better alternative to the TRS in Dubbaka.
Dubbaka by-elections have most certainly gained a lot of political interest, despite the fact that the situation of Coronavirus is still at large in the state. The polling for Dubbaka by-elections will take place on November 3rd, and the counting will take place on November 10th.
