Shakuntalam is the latest film to be directed by ace director Gunasekhar. It’s been six years that he made a film. Gunasekhar’s last film was Rudhramadevi released long ago in 2015. Currently the director is prepping up with an interesting mythological drama ‘Shaakuntalam’, which was termed as mythology for millennials.
It has been officially announced that Samantha will play the titular role as the ethereal and demure Shakuntala in the film, which will be based on a mythological story. Earlier reports speculated that Anushka would be seen in a key role. However it was not confirmed yet.
Now according to the latest news, Esha Rebba will be playing a pivotal role in this mythological drama. If the reports are to be relied upon, Esha will be seen as Samantha’s friend. Gunasekhar who is known to erect gigantic sets will be shooting the film with a huge budget and cast. Set work of the film is currently underway.
The film makers are yet to zero in on the male lead in the movie. Neelima Guna will be producing the film wherein Mani Sharma will provide the music.
