A series of arrests have been taking place in Andhra Pradesh, with respect to the ESI scam. Ex-minister Atchannadiu had already been arrested as part of the scam a few days ago, and very recently, ex-minister Pithani Satyanarayana’s Personal Secretary Muralimohan has been arrested.
The scam has been done on the basis of buying medicines and other medical equipment for higher prices than the original. It started off with Atchannaidu, and continued with Pithani Satyanarayana as well.
While there is no clarity over the involvement of Satyanarayana in the case, it has been clear that his PS, Muralimohan, was very much involved in it. It is also rumored that Pithani’s son Suresh is also involved in the scam
As a precautionary measure, both Pithani Suresh and Muralimohan had applied for an anticipatory bail in the high court, both of which have been rejected. After the arrest of Muralimohan, the ACB started searching for Pithani Suresh, who had reportedly escaped.
According to the latest reports, Suresh was located in Hyderabad, to where the ACB has now sent a team. The ACB is also now looking into the involvement of Pithani Satyanarayana. As of now, it is not clear who will be arrested first, but either or both of the Pithani men will be arrested very soon.
