Etela Rajender who locked horns with CM KCR and ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi(TRS) and went for the by-poll by calling the polls after resigning from his MLA post had the last laugh in the issue. In a tough fight, he emerged victorious in the by-poll and made it to the Assembly from the Huzurabad constituency for the fifth consecutive term.
After his big win in the erectly held Huzurabad by-election, Etela Rajender took oath as the Huzurabad legislator but as a Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) leader this time. A top TRS leader once, Etela had switched parties and joined the saffron camp now.
Etela Rajender took oath as the Legislator on Wednesday. Speaker of the Telangana Legislative Assembly Pocharam Srinivas Reddy administered the oath-ceremony. BJP MLAs have attended the ceremony and congratulated Etela on his occasion.
The oath-taking ceremony was held at the Speaker’s chamber in the Assembly on Wednesday. Etela and the Speaker and meeting for the first time after the infamous resignation row of Etela Rajender. When Etela Rajender submitted his resignation, the Speaker was not present in the house and Etela had submitted his resignation for Assembly Secretary.
Before reaching the house for the oath-taking ceremony, Etela reached the Gunpark and paid floral tributes to the martyrs. BJP leaders like Jitender Reddy, Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, Tula Uma, Enugu Ravinder Reddy, and others were present at the occasion.
Etela Rajender, a senior member of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi(TRS), who was with the party from the early days and actively took part in the state agitation had difficulties with CM KCR and quit the party after his cabinet post was stripped due to the allegations of land grabbing. Etela Rajender had resigned from his MLA post in June this year and joined the BJP. He campaigned for the party vigorously and won the by-election.
With Etela Rajender winning the elections, BJ[P strength in the Telangana Assembly went to three. Raghunandan Rao(Dubbaka), Raja Singh(Goshamahal) are the other MLAs who won on a BJP ticket. After Etela’s victory, BJP fans are widely sharing pictures of the trio saying that RRR had entered the Assembly.
