Devi Sri Prasad who mesmerizes the audience with his music is back once again with Sharwanand’s Aadavallu Meeku Johaarlu. Four songs of the film are out already from the film and are instant chartbusters. Tirumala Kishore has directed the film produced by Sudhakar Cherukuri on SLV Cinemas Banner. The movie will be releasing on March 4th. Here is a chit-chat with Devi Sri Prasad.
This is your fourth film with director Tirumala Kishore. Do you feel comfortable with him?
I feel comfortable working with Tirumala Kishore. He is a very creative person. He has an in-depth understanding of music and is very sure about what he wants. All his films are music-based stories. His films are full of emotion as well as entertainment. I can say that ‘Aadavallu Meeku Johaarlu’ is the best movie in Kishore’s career. I really enjoyed doing the songs. He narrated me this story on Zoom calls during the lockdown. I immediately came up with the idea of Mangalayam song. I get an idea about the kind of music a film requires, when he narrates me a story. That is why it is very comfortable to do a film with him. Similarly, when we thought about the title song, we immediately thought it would be nice if added fun to it.
How do you feel working for a youthful and family movie?
This is also a love story with family emotions and fun elements. Sharwanand gave his career best performance. It will be a big advantage for Rashmika to do this film, after Pushpa. While she played a village belle in Pushpa, she will be seen as a urban girl in AMJ. Khushboo, Radhika, and Urvashi are the big assets of the film. Not just families, kids and youth too will love this movie. As my producer and director asked me, I watched the movie. I liked it very much. I saw it three times during the Mixing.
Did the film stir any of your memories when you watched it?
The teaser and trailer give us insight about the film’s story. I have witnessed in my real life as well that how a boy’s life is like with so many family members around us. If I go to our hometown, I had similar experiences, that of the hero in the film. They all like me very much. My cousins kiss me. That is why all these are memorable. Whenever I went to my native during this shoot, I would take photos and send them to the director Kishore. My life is very similar to this movie, I used to tell him.
If you had to tell Johaar to anyone, whom would you tell?
I will tell Johaar to my mother first. Everyone knows about my mother. She is the reason why everyone in our family is still happy. My father had a heart attack at the age of 32. She looked after him like a child. My father used to say that, mom has four children, including him.
The film features four different songs. Does the story have the span?
There is so much span in the story and that is the reason the songs have come out well. You even feel variation from song to song. Apart from the four songs, there is also a song in the movie which is s surprise package.
What’s the quality you liked in Sharwanand?
I know Sharwanand from `Shankar Dada MBBS` days. He played a character in the movie. He also took part in a song. We always wanted to do a film together. It finally happened because of Tirumala Kishore. We discussed a lot about the film while shooting in Goa. I felt very happy.
What are the differences you found in Pushpa and AMJ?
Every movie has some freshness to it. I did Rangasthalam and Bharat Ane Nenu at the same time. Rangasthalam has a rural backdrop, wherein Bharat Ane Nenu has a modern backdrop. Variation must be shown, according to setup of a film. Pushpa is a rugged film. Aadavallu Meeku Joharlu is a cool movie. Sukumar listened to a song of the movie during promotions of Pushpa. He liked it completely and also complemented me. Anil Ravipudi and Bobby appreciated the title song.
There is huge reach for any song in current era? Is it a golden era for music?
It is always a golden era for music. That’s why we still remember songs from hundreds of years ago and we always remember them. I’ve many favourite musicians like Michael Jackson, M.S. Viswanath, and Ilayaraja. There were no social media during their time. There are no borders for music. So, I do not feel it is great even if the songs get millions of views.
What is the new driving force for you, that inspires you to score chartbuster songs?
I love music. I am a music lover. That always drives me forward. My Guru’s Birthday 28th is on 28th of this month. I am planning a new program.
What are your next films?
I am doing F3. I’ve composed three songs for Chiranjeevi’s movie under the direction of Bobby. I am doing music for Harish Shankar and Pawan Kalyan’s film. I am also doing Vaishnav Tej’s Ranga Ranga Vaibhavanga. Apart from these, I am also doing a Bollywood movie.
