Telangana has a rich history of handloom and the sector is one of the key sectors in the state. Keeping this in mind, the state government is giving a special focus on promoting the sector and giving a helping hand to the people involved in the sector. Taking a cue from social media, the concerned Minister threw a challenge.
Titled ‘Handloom Challenge’, people who accept the challenge should have to post pictures in handloom clothes and throw the challenge at others. IT Minister KTR throwed challenge at Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan. After accepting the challenge, he threw the challenge at three people including former Minister Balineni Srinivas Reddy of YSRCP.
As an interesting thing, the YSRCP MLA accepted the challenge and even thanked the Janasena chief for the opportunity. Having thanked Pawan Kalyan, Balineni Srinivas Reddy walked down memory lane to recall how he lent a helping hand to the handloom sector when he was the Minister of the Handloom sector in the cabinet of late Chief Minister of combined Andhra Pradesh YSR.
It is justified why Balineni Srinivasa Reddy thanked Pawan Kalyan. The ex-Minister got a big opportunity to recall how he worked for the well-being of the handloom sector. Drawing a comparison between the YSR government and the current YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government, Balineni Srinivasa Reddy highlighted how both the Chief Ministers helped the handloom sector.
It has to be mentioned here that these days, common people are also showing interest in wearing handlooms as the big stars are promoting handlooms. Pawan Kalyan has been wearing handlooms for quite some time. While promoting his political thriller Bharat Ane Nenu, Superstar Mahesh Babu also wore handlooms and spoke highly about handlooms and how handloom wears are comfortable.
Earlier, star heroine Samantha Ruth Prabhu also wore handlooms and promoted the clothes. She was even made the brand ambassador of handlooms in the state. Leading stars talking about handlooms made people try handlooms and the move is working well. Looks like the Telangana government is ready to go to any extent to promote the handloom sector. It is a good thing to see the government promoting handloom.
