Director Karuna Kumar of Palasa 1978 got due recognition with a few screenings to the media and bagged a few commitments thereon.
Producer Allu Aravind gave him a cheque and everyone thought that he would be directing a film for GA2. Obviously he would either rope in his son Sirish or some small hero to see if Karuna Kumar can pass the second film syndrome.
The news trickling out is that the cheque was not meant for a film for GA2 but it was for directing a web series for AhA which is facing a severe content crunch.
We hear the director is a bit disappointed with that. Well, be it the director of C/O Kancharapalem Venkatesh Maha or Karuna Kumar of Palasa, they need to come out with something absolutely commercial and win the confidence of the audience otherwise they would be labelled art film directors.
They would be stereotyped and would never be given a regular film opportunity, instead the producers would say why don’t you direct web series for us which is already happening in this case.
The thing is producers don’t have the courage to spend money on their second films with two tier heroes. They will have their usual doubts. The same is the case with newcomers, be it Kishorudu of Sreekaram or Harsha of Husharuga.
