Film industry grieves sudden demise of director Sachy

Famous Malayalam director and story writer Sachy who is 48 years old, passed away today. He got admitted to a hospital for hip replacement, which unexpectedly caused cardiac arrest few days ago. Total hip replacement surgery was performed on the 15th of this month at a hospital in Thrissur. Within hours of that surgery, Sachy suffered a heart attack. Also the blood flow to the brain has stopped by triggering Brain ischemia. Since that day, Saachy been placed in a critical care center on a ventilator. He was taken to the Jubilee Mission Hospital in Thrissur early in the morning on the 16th.

Doctors gave injections to him on Thursday morning to control blood pressure. However, they said in their report that there was no change in his nervous system and body function and it would be difficult for him to recover. Sachy, who had been battling death for about two days, died at 9.30 pm on Thursday (June 18). This news has shocked everyone and the Malayalam film industry now grieves his sudden demise that has left a huge unattainable void in the film industry.

K. R Sacchidanandan is his original name and is fondly called Sachy by his colleagues. Sachy who is also a theatre artist stepped into Mollywood industry as a writer and became a director. He started working with writer Sethunath at the beginning of her career. They worked together for few films like Chocolate, Robinhood etc and then parted ways.

Sachy’s first film `Anarkali’ as the director was released in 2015. He went onto pen script for other directors too. His directorial this year, Ayyappanum Koshayam was a huge blockbuster at the box office. Recently the film rights were bought by other industries and is now being remade in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Although he made few films earlier, he came to limelight all over India with this single film.
