Telangana state on Saturday reported the first death due to Coronavirus. A 74-year old man from Khairatabad, who got admitted to Global Hospitals for other symptoms died and after death, he turned out to be a Coronavirus positive.
This was declared by health minister Etela Rajender at a press conference after a meeting with the officials in the afternoon.
He said six more positive cases had surfaced on Saturday, taking the number of positive cases in the state to 65.
Rajender said the second stage of infection was growing in Telangana. In Qutbullapur, four members of a same family tested positive for Corona.
“The person who went to Delhi on a religious mission, got the virus and transmitted it to all his family members,” he regretted.
In old city of Hyderabad, six members of a family also got affected by the virus and tested positive.
“All of the family members have been kept in isolation and all their relatives have been quarantined,” he said.
In fact, the government has not been releasing medical bulletins for the last two days, leading to speculations that the situation in the state must be serious and the government was trying to suppress the information.
But the health minister said there was no such intention on the part of the government and the information would be released so as to see that wrong information did not spread by the social media.
Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party wondered why the Telangana government had stopped releasing the health bulletin, which it used to release every day on corona virus status in the state.
“If the state government doesn’t release official health bulletins, it gives scope for fake news propaganda by miscreants and creates confusion amongst the general public,” BJP spokesman K Krishna Sagar Rao said.
He wished that the state government and health ministry resume its daily health updates and bulletins on current status of Corona virus in Telangana State.
