Galla’s Arrest: AP Govt in Fix?

TDP MP Galla Jayadev’s ‘arrest’ has been triggering storm in AP politics. TDP’s Yanamala Ramakrishna has strongly condemned the act of state government and police for grossly violating the norms to be followed while ‘arresting’ a Member of Parliament.

Accusing the government of doing an ‘Illegal’ Arrest, Yanamala asked why the police have not informed the Lok Sabha speaker within 24 hours. He further stressed that on what grounds a MP has been arrested by police and how can be police act so rude with an MP.

Strongly defending Galla Jayadev and his protest against government in favour of protesting Amaravati farmers, Yanamala said that the sole mistake of MP Galla Jayadev is to support the peaceful protest of Amaravati farmers. He said MP Galla Jayadev was beaten by police and made him roam about 100 Kms all night through all the police stations in a police vehicle.

Coming down heavily on the police officials involved, Yanamala demanded the immediate suspension of police officials who allegedly misbehaved with Galla. Yanamala said TDP’s Legislative Party in Parliament is taking the issue to the notice of Speaker and the heads in the Union Government. Yanamala said TDP won’t leave the matter here and said it would standby their Member of Parliament in these tested times.

With TDP taking the issue to the Centre, AP government is now in a fix.
