biopics and films on real-life personalities are the current trend. Going by the same phenomenon, a project starring talented actress Alia Bhatt was announced and the trailer was also unveiled earlier. The trailer had upped the expectations of the film. While the fans can’t wait to witness Alia’s acting prowess on the silver screen, the film has attracted a big controversy.
Gangubai Kathiawadi’s adopted son had expressed his objections over the way his mother’s character was designed. Gangubai’s granddaughter also raised a few reservations and accused the makers of showcasing her in an objectionable manner to get money as collections.
The duo is not happy with the court not giving orders to stop the release of the film and asked why they were not given relief in the case. In his petition, Babu Raoji Shah had said that her mother was wrongly shown in the film and for this, they are constantly changing their address.
Going into details, Babu Raoji Shah, who is said to be the adopted son of Gangubai, upon whom the film is based had approached a local court in Mumbai earlier last year. Hearing the petition, the court had served summons to Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Alia Bhatt.
The issue had later reached the Mumbai High Court and the court said that the release of the film cannot be stalled and also issued directives that the further proceedings in the case filed against the Director and Actress should be stopped until further notice.
Speaking to the media on the Court not considering their objections, Raoji had reportedly said that they are unable to listen to what people are saying about her as she was shown as prosti****. How can you show a person who had worked for the betterment of prosti***** as a lady don, he asked.
