Director Sekhar Kammula is known for carving out sensible films that have feminism as a major element most of the times. Running high with the success of Fidaa, he actually started a film with newcomers, but then replaced the cast with Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi. And this film is titled “Love Story” which is set for April 2020 release.
Though Sekhar’s carves simple love stories, this time he is said to have borrowed the theme of the movie from a really ghastly incident that has shaken Telugu states last year. The honour killing incident of Miryalaguda that involved the brutal daylight murder of Pranay is said to be the inspiration behind Sekhar’s new movie.
While Pranay hails from a Scheduled Caste, his wife Amrutha is from an upper caste. Irritated with their love marriage, the girl’s father hatched a plan to murder the boy even after knowing that his daughter is pregnant with the boy’s child. The incident has not only shocked people but led to various debates on TVs and Amrutha’s every single word made many roll down tears.
Taking a cue from this incident, we hear that Sekhar developed his “Love Story” on caste-basis theme. Though films like Sairat have similar theme, we have to see how this talented directed approached the subject and carved it.
