GHMC Polls: TRS stumbles as BJP gains steam

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi had a dream of winning 100 seats of all 150 seats in the GHMC elections. Last time around, they won 99 seats, and they thought that they would reach their 100 mark this year.

However, things took a 180 degree turn this year, with the BJP rising above all expectations, and winning 4 times the seats it has won last time. Last time around, the BJP won 4 seats, and this time, it has won a staggering 49 seats, while the MIM has won 43 seats. Congress managed to win just 2 seats.

It is being speculated that the TRS and MIM might join hands for a majority, for the post of the Mayor. Despite the BJP’s considerable victory, and TRS’s loss, the GHMC elections this year turned out to be a totally underwhelming affair.

Not many have exercised their right to vote, with under 50% of the city’s population voting in the elections. A lot discrepancies have also reportedly taken place in the elections this year, with many revealing that a certain party has tried to make sure that they win the elections at any cost.

With the BJP winning these GHMC elections with a considerable margin, the next general elections will bring in a great and tough competition between BJP and TRS.
