The trend of sequels is continuing in Bollywood. As many as 10 sequels are slated for release this year making 2017 a year of sequels. Apart from the sequels which are on the sets.. there are reports that several other sequels are under planning stage. Sequel of Rangeela is one of them. Rangeela is a blockbuster Bollywood film directed by sensation director Ram Gopal Varma which was released in 1995. When Varma was asked about the sequel of Rangeela, he ruled out such possibility.
Rangeela was Varma’s debut film in Bollywood. Aamir Khan, Jackie Shroff, Urmila Matondkar played lead roles in the film. Urmila Matondkar became overnight star with the success of Rangeela. The film is considered to be a turning point in Aamir Khan’s career also. Even RGV became a sensational director wit the success of Rangeela. Varma made sequels of super hits films earlier which turned out to be disasters at the box office. That is the reason why he doesn’t seem to be interested in the sequel. While speaking at the trailer launch of his upcoming film Sarkar 3 on Wednesday, Varma clarified that he is not planning any sequel to Rangeela.
On the other hand, Sarkar 3 is considered to be a comeback film of RGV into Bollywood. It is known that Varma is away from Bollywood in the recent past. A fresh installment in the super hit Sarkar series, Big B Amitabh Bachchan is playing the key role of Subhash Nagre in the film. Manoj Bajpayee, Jackie Shroff, Yami Gautam are playing other key roles in Sarkar 3. The film is hitting the screens on April 7.
