The only lady superstar of the current generation, if we have to go by the remuneration, is none other than Nayantara. Despite the fact she never attends film promotions, and never helps in the sales of movie, she developed a kind of craze that producers are ready to dump money for her.
Word has that to team up with Superstar Rajnikanth one more time for the upcoming film, Siva’s Annathhe (tentatively titled Annayya in Telugu), Nayantara has given a bit of discount to her remuneration. Though her role in Rajni’s previous flick AR Murugadoss’ Darbar is quite small, she’s said to have charged almost 5.5 crores as her remuneration. But now that Sun Pictures is producing this movie, she is said to be doing the project for a crore less.
In the wake of rumours coming up that Nayantara charged almost 10.5 crores as her remuneration for his new film of Rajnikanth, some sources from the production house have clarified to Tamil media that there is no truth in that. They have hinted that she is charging 20% less than what she took from Lyca Productions for Darbar.
Even after giving such discount, Nayantara is by far the highest-paid heroine in the south.
