The Andhra Pradesh government added more districts recently and the issue is in the news right now. The names suggested by the government have caught in a controversy with a few leaders objecting to the names and demanding change in the names of the newly formed districts.
Under the reorganisation of the districts, one of the biggest regions in the state in terms of area, Anantapur was divided into two districts, namely the Anantapur and Satya Sai District.
The Hindupur constituency, which has been represented by the Nandamuri family and is currently held by Nandamuri Balakrishna, was incorporated in Satya Sai district along with five other Assembly districts.
Hindupur MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna reacted to the development and said that Hindupur is a developed region in various aspects and hence it should be made the headquarters of the Satya Sai district. Compared to other constituencies, Hindupur is developed and it can serve future needs too.
“As the Hindupur constituency is developed and it enjoys the land to serve the future needs, the government should make Hindupur the district headquarters. I am hoping that the government will respect the sentiments of the Hindupur region and make it the headquarters,” Balakrishna said.
Nandamuri Balakrishna had welcomed the decision to add new districts. It is appreciable that the government had decided to make the districts based on the Parliament constituencies, he added.
