Naga Chaitanya’s upcoming film, Custody, released its trailer last night, and it has left the audience intrigued and hopeful. The intense thriller revolves around a constable who is determined to uphold truth and justice at any cost. Against the opposition of his entire department, he takes on the responsibility of escorting a notorious criminal to court.
The trailer showcased a gripping narrative, but it also seemed reminiscent of two iconic Hollywood movies. One is Assault at Precinct 13, starring Ethan Hawke, which depicts a police officer battling powerful figures within the department who are bent on assassinating a gangster in custody on New Year’s Eve.
The other film is 16 Blocks, featuring Bruce Willis, where a soon-to-retire cop is tasked with escorting a suspect to court, a mere 16 blocks away. Along the way, he encounters numerous obstacles that challenge his mission.
Interestingly, Bollywood also has a notable film, Khakee, starring Akshay Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan, that follows a similar storyline. It remains to be seen whether Custody, directed by Venkat Prabhu, merely incorporates shades of these movies or if it draws heavily from them.
Custody, starring Naga Chaitanya and Kriti Shetty as the female lead, is set to release on May 12. Fans are eagerly anticipating this thrilling tale of a constable’s fight for justice.
