How Mamta lost both YS Jagan and Chandrababu Naidu’s support?

Mamta Banerjee is entertaining prime ministerial ambitions. But, for that she needs the support of several regional parties. Her agents are already in touch with several regional leaders. However, she seems to have scored zilch in the all-important Andhra Pradesh. Neither the TDP nor the ruling YSRCP seem to be interested in aligning with her.

In fact, Mamta Banerjee had campaigned vigorously in AP in support of Chandrababu Naidu in the 2019 elections. Even Arvind Kejriwal was involved in the pro-Chandrababu campaign. But, the TDP lost the election very badly. Since then, Mamta has stopped looking towards the TDP, which is all but electorally decimated.

On the other hand, the YSRCP had always adopted a pro-Modi stance and sided with the BJP on all important matters in Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha. Jagan believed in a non-confrontationist attitude with Modi and the BJP unlike Chandrababu. As a result, Jagan is said to have told Mamta in no uncertain terms that he would not join hands with her.

Meanwhile, Mamta Banerjee’s revelations about the Pegasus sandal has left Chandrababu Naidu in an embarrassing position. Now that he is in the dock on the issue, he cannot possibly support her. As a result, AP, which has 25 MP seats, has no party supporting Mamta Banerjee.
