‘Hyderabad is India’s Muslim Capital’

MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi is at it again. He has declared yesterday that Hyderabad was the real capital of Muslims in India. This alleged ‘communal’ statement of Chandrayangutta constituency legislator seems to have courted a fresh controversy.

Speaking at MIM party headquarters on Thursday on the eve of the 59th year of party’s revival, Akbaruddin said, “The capital of India is Delhi indeed. But if there is a capital city for Indian Muslims, then it is Hyderabad. The thinking and deliberation goes to country’s Muslims from here (Hyderabad). Representations go from here (sic).”

Akbaruddin also raised the topic of Alair encounter of 2015 in which five suspected terrorists – belonging to Muslim community – under trails were killed in an encounter with the police near Alair in Nalgonda district.

“The MIM will bring justice to those who died in the Alair encounter,” Owaisi said. He alleged that then government of united Andhra Pradesh issued “character certificates” to those who were implicated by the police in the Mecca Masjid blast case.
