Taapsee, who shifted her base from Tollywood to Bollywood, has managed to survive in Hindi industry that is dominated by stars, families and their star kids. The Pink actress has opened up about the much-talked about “Nepotism” in Bollywood.
During the promotions of her latest release Thappad, Taapsee said she was “rejected” by several filmmakers and was later “replaced” by star kids in Hindi film industry. Taapsee openly stated that star kids who are not as talented as she is have replaced her. She said she is one of the most affected actresses due to nepotism. She further added that she had cried a lot after losing offers as it was “hurtful” and “painful”.
Taapsee, who never minces her words, said people in Bollywood believed that she would not survive long in the industry and she would fade off soon. “People had thought I won’t last long. Many thought I would fade off. Even when I had successes, they felt I’d only do 1 or 2 movies and would fade off later.”
“Even when I had successes, people felt ek do aur, zyada se zyada and then she’ll fade off,” Taapsee was quoted as saying in her bold interview to Pinkvilla. Shockingly, Taapsee said it could happen to her even now. “It can happen to me today as well,” Taapsee added.
Her latest release Thappad got average to good reviews. While the film’s openings were decent, the film witnessed huge drop on Monday. The film collected around 15.75 crore nett in four days. Her fresh remarks on star kids and Nepotism has hit a controversy and it may keep her in headlines for a day or two.
