Indian jury nominates Jallikattu for oscars

Malayalam film, Jallikattu which released in 2019 is India’s entry for the 93rd academy awards (Oscars), 2021, say latest reports.

Jallikattu has been nominated under the best international film category by the Indian Jury board.

A total of 27 films were shortlisted by the jury and Jallikattu stood in pole position. Other films which were considered for entry include Shakuntala Devi, The Disciple, Gunjan Saxena, Chhalaang, The Sky is Pink, etc.

A member of the Indian jury commented that Jallikattu is a film that brings out the raw side of humans.

Directed by Lijo Jose Pelissery, Jallikattu is based on a famous South Indian sport with the same name. It received critical acclaim during the time of its release.

The film has Antony Varghese, Chemban Vinod Jose, Sabumon Abusamad and a few others in lead roles.
