#IndvSA: Ro’HIT’ scores second century

Before the start of the first Test match between India and South Africa, all the eyes were on Rohit Sharma. The selectors after dropping Lokesh Rahul, picked Rohit Sharma’s name to open the innings. However the Mumbai batsman did not impress in the practice match.

Responding to the critics perfectly Rohit Sharma scored back-to-back centuries in first and second innings. By doing so Rohit became the second Indian cricketer after Sunil Gavaskar to score centuries in both the innings while playing as opener. This also makes Rohit Sharma the sixth player from India to make hundreds in both innings of a Test match.

Coincidentally Rohit roots are from Vizag and he has cemented his berth in the Test squad from the very place. After scoring a ton, Rohit turned the Test match into T20 with big hits all over the ground. But he got out at 127 runs and it was Keshav Maharaj who picked the ‘HITMAN’s wicket.

India is in a commanding position in the first Test and is likely to declare their second innings by the end of the day. They would put Proteas to bat on the final day of the match. If Indian bowlers pick ten wickets on the fifth day, India will claim the Test win.
