Inside Story: DSP’s ‘No remuneration’ policy for Sukumar’s films

Devi Sri Prasad and Sukumar have proven to be one of the most successful combinations when it comes to delivering chart-buster albums. Infact, Sukumar has never worked with any music director other than Devi Sri Prasad till date and that speaks volumes about their professional relationship.

Devi Sri Prasad usually takes around Rs 2-3 crores remuneration depending on the scale of the project. But, he changes the business model while working on films that are produced by Sukumar.

We came to know that the star music composer follows a ‘No remuneration’ policy for films that are bankrolled under Sukumar writings banner. Instead, he takes a share in the box office collection of the project that he and Sukumar are associated with. Devi and Sukumar have been following this model since the latter’s production, ‘Kumari 21F’. This seems to have proven profitable for both the parties.

It is learnt that Devi Sri Prasad and Sukumar are following the same model for ‘Uppena’ as well. The audio album has been receiving a good response and especially, ‘Nee Kallu Neeli Samudhram’ has become a raging hit.

Devi Sri Prasad and Sukumar will be joining hands again for Allu Arjun’s ‘Pushpa’ which will start rolling once the impact of coronavirus pandemic is nullified.
