Inside Story: When and why did Acharya become a multi-starrer.?

Acharya, starring Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan in the lead roles is one of the most awaited Telugu films of the year. This is the first time Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan are actually sharing the screen space, playing full-length roles. This has catapulted the buzz surrounding the film to a whole new level.

But Acharya wasn’t always a genuine multi-starrer. At first, Koratala Siva wrote a guest role with an intention of roping in Mahesh Babu for it. Mahesh liked the script and came on board. But then came the twist in the tale.

Chiranjeevi, who has been waiting for the right script to act alongside his son Ram Charan opined Acharya had the potential to make for a winning multi-starrer. He then asked Koratala Siva to work on the cameo role and extend it. Siva acted accordingly and increased the screen time of the role. Then, Ram Charan came on board for the role and that is how Acharya became a multi-starter.

Incidentally, Siva further extended Ram Charan’s role as he had enough spare time during the lockdown period. Consequently, Acharya is now a genuine multi-starrer with both the principal lead characters having great prominence in the script.

Acharya is in final leg of shoot now and Ram Charan is presently shooting for a few penultimate scenes.
