Every single member of the ruling YSRCP appears in front of the media, at some or the other point. However, there is one member that hasn’t appeared or spoken to the media after winning in the general elections. Ongole MP Magunta Srinivasula Reddy had been offered a seat in the TDP before the general elections, but he had to give in to the pressure from the YSRCP. He contested from Ongole and won as the MP, but after that, he has completely disappeared from the picture.
Magunta has not taken part in any of the municipal or local election campaigns, and he is not even seen touring his own constituency at any point. Those close to Magunta are saying that he’s not staying in Andhra Pradesh for the most part, and is usually based in Chennai.
Balineni Srinivas Reddy and YV Subbareddy are usually highlighted at any function, as they are related to Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. With their dominance, there’s no scope for any other leader to shine in AP. YV is always eyeing the MP seat, and honestly, Magunta wouldn’t even have been a part of YSRCP if not for desperate situations.
Magunta is very much aware that he would be made use of only when there’s a necessity and that he would be discarded when there’s no use of him. That’s why he wisely chose to stay away by himself. Previously, he used to tour his constituency at least 3 days a week, but now, he’s not to be seen at all.
Liquor business in Andhra Pradesh has severely been affected after Jagan became the CM. Magunta has several beverage factories, and also sells imported and costly liquor, which has taken a hit due to increased liquor rates. Moreover, given that Magunta is not a rebel like Raghu Ramakrishna Raju, the MP has chosen to completely stay off the picture.
